RAI Energy Australia

A Cleaner Future from the Ground Up.

Growing Energy. Capturing Carbon. Restoring Land.

About us

RAI Energy is a Perth-based project development and management company specialising in biofuels and crop-to-energy solutions using Binex Inc 's proprietary high-yield sorghum variety. With seeds ready for cultivation across up to 10,000 hectares, we are positioned to deliver large-scale, sustainable energy projects powered by agriculture.

Our expertise spans the entire bioenergy value chain—from sorghum cultivation and syrup extraction to bioethanol, bio-pellet, and sustainable aviation fuel production. We manage projects end-to-end, aligning landowners, processors, and energy users to create integrated, commercially viable renewable energy systems.

At RAI Energy, we’re turning Australian farmland into a platform for carbon-negative fuels and future-ready energy infrastructure.

Bio Ethanol - Feed stock

Our energy sorghum is cultivated specifically for high-sugar yield and efficient conversion into bioethanol. From harvesting to processing, we produce high-quality syrup onsite, reducing transport costs and emissions. Through strategic partnerships with processing facilities and large-scale distillers, this syrup is converted into clean, renewable bioethanol—supporting Australia’s transition to a low-emission fuel economy.

This farm-to-fuel model creates a local, sustainable supply chain, delivering environmental and economic benefits across regional communities while reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

Bio Utility Pellets

Our bio-pellets, made from high-yield energy sorghum, are designed as a direct replacement for coal in thermal power generation. Engineered for high energy density and clean combustion, these pellets offer a practical path toward carbon-negative power when paired with on-farm carbon sequestration.

We are preparing sample volumes for burn testing in Q4 2025, and early modelling shows that 12,500 hectares of sorghum can produce approximately 1 million tonnes of bio-pellets—enough to fuel a standard coal-fired power station at 100% replacement.

Soil Carbon Farming

Our uniquely bred Ethiopian sorghum variety offers exceptional carbon capture potential, sequestering approximately 150 tonnes of CO₂ per hectare—with 60 tonnes stored in the root system and 90 tonnes in the stem and leaves. These results have been independently verified through a collaborative study with our partners in Japan.

We are now establishing our first soil carbon site in Australia and preparing it for formal registration under national carbon farming frameworks. This initiative marks a significant step toward delivering verified carbon credits and supporting Australia's transition to a net-zero future through nature-based solutions.

Silage

Our carefully selected sorghum varieties are engineered for high biomass yield, excellent digestibility, and drought tolerance, making them an ideal choice for premium silage production. Sorghum’s deep root systems and fast growth ensure consistent feed quality, even in challenging climates, while its natural sugar content supports better fermentation and palatability.

Whether you’re feeding cattle or supporting large-scale livestock operations, our sorghum silage delivers nutrient-rich, cost-effective, and sustainable feed—helping farmers improve animal health and productivity while regenerating soil and conserving water.

SAF

We’re pioneering the use of sorghum as a scalable, regenerative feedstock for the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Sorghum’s fast growth cycle, high biomass yield, and drought resistance make it ideal for cultivation across vast Australian farmland. When processed into bioethanol and upgraded through advanced refining technologies, sorghum-based SAF offers a cleaner-burning alternative to traditional jet fuel.

By pairing this with carbon farming practices—such as soil carbon sequestration and regenerative land use—we create a circular solution that not only powers aviation but actively removes carbon from the atmosphere. Together, this integrated model can help the aviation industry cut CO₂ emissions by up to 80% over the fuel lifecycle, accelerating Australia’s contribution to global net-zero targets.

Sorghum Grain

Our food-grade sorghum grain is a gluten-free, nutrient-rich whole grain ideal for a wide range of culinary and beverage applications. Naturally high in fibre, protein, and antioxidants, it supports digestive health and sustained energy. Sorghum is perfect for baking flours, puffed or flaked cereals, and cooked whole in salads, soups, and grain bowls.

Importantly, our sorghum grain is also used in the production of gluten-free craft beer, offering brewers a sustainable, allergen-friendly alternative without compromising flavour. This makes it an ideal ingredient for health-conscious consumers, specialty food brands, and craft beverage producers alike.
